What Do You Do Every Day?

FAQ #14

Since launching Connectual nearly two months ago, I've spent almost all-day every day meeting with a wide range of marketers and digital marketing companies. Having served the past five years primarily as the Omnicom search guy, it was important for me to "reacclimate to the wild" and get my fingers on the pulse of pressing client needs and the latest and greatest platforms delivering against them.

Sure, I'd been exposed to all the non-search digital marketing channels during my tenure with Resolution Media but only as an agency partner or trade-mag reader and conference attendee. So I set out to line up as many meetings as I could with all the movers and shakers in the space 1) to educate myself on the various offerings and 2) to help me decide where to place my bets as far as I the companies I represent.

Some two months and 200+ meetings later later, I think I've got a good feel for what's working and not working out there. And I've built out the Connectual referral network accordingly. Connectual "trusted providers" include firms specializing in social media, search, web analytics, video, behaviorial targeting, creative, local, etc.

When I'm not meeting with marketers, agencies, media companies, and technology providers, I'm delivering on consulting projects ranging from creating pitch decks to planning website revamps to packaging and pricing new service offerings. And sprinkled throughout my days (and nights!) are all the fun tasks you'd expect from a start-up... financial planning, status reports, contract writing (and rewriting and rewriting!), accounting, contact management, etc. etc.

Bottom line, no two days are alike and I wouldn't have it any other way!
